Baja and Mexico flights on sale at Delta Airlines

Loreto in Baja, California Is the beach calling your name? It’s mostly cloudy and 53 degrees in Los Angeles today, but it’s 77 in Puerto Vallarta and 79 in Cancun. Delta has flights to Mexico on sale. I like that the airline offers smaller city destinations and that no advance purchase is necessary.

Delta’s one-way fares from Los Angeles (LAX) before taxes:

Culiacan, Mexico (CUL)—$149

La Paz, Mexico (LAP)—$179
Leon, Mexico (BJX)—$209
Loreto, Mexico (LTO)—$159

Tested: I’ve always wanted to go to Muleje in Baja California, and Loreto is the closest airport, so I tested that route. I checked early February flights from Los Angeles (LAX) to Loreto (LTO) and found a round-trip fare departing Sunday and returning Thursday for $331, including taxes, on Delta.

When: Book by Jan. 31 for travel through March 15, 2008. Some blackout dates apply.
