Does a vacation to the Bahamas sound pretty darn good about now? It does to me, and bargains do seem to be bountiful on the Caribbean islands these days. For instance, check out this deal, below, by Wyndham Nassau Resort & Crystal Palace Casino. It takes the recently popular concept of “buy a couple of nights and get one free,” and ups the ante. A deal does shine through in the offer, but don’t forget to research between the lines.
Deal: With the “Vacation Stimulus Package,” pay for a stay of two consecutive nights and receive the following two nights free of charge. If you book this, you will also receive a $100 resort credit for food and beverages on-site. Your room would have an ocean view, with a king or two queen beds.
Blackout dates include Dec. 21-31, 2008. For the periods between now and Dec. 20, 2008, and Jan. 1-11, 2009, standard room rates are $309 per night (pretax). Kids under 17 years of age stay free if sharing a room with parents, and a maximum of four (including up to three adults) are permitted in a room.
Note: This is a good deal — it just has a tad less sheen when you research other rates on offer. The nightly rate with the aforementioned package uses the standard rate, not the “best available” rate. If you were to book your nights separately using the “best available” rate, you could get a room as low as $160 per night (pretax).
But if you want four nights, go with the package, which returns a $618 pretax total; plus, don’t forget, you get that $100 resort credit. Four nights using the best available rate, and sans credit, comes to $640.
When: Book by Jan. 31, 2009, for stays between now and Dec. 31, 2009.
