San Diego Zoo: See Frank the baby gorilla and ape webcam

Frank the baby gorilla at the San Diego Zoo

The San Diego Zoo’s Great Ape Awareness Days start Thursday, Nov.  13 and run through Sunday. It’s a chance for guests to find out more about the zoo’s three species of great apes: gorillas, orangutans and bonobos, the most endangered. But the real draw is Frank, the baby gorilla who was born at the zoo on Sept. 4, 2008. Click the picture above, or this video link to see a sneak preview of Frank and hear more about Great Ape Awareness Days.

When to see Frank the tank: You can see him on Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays, 11 to 11:30 a.m. in the main viewing area.

Bonus: If you can’t make it out to the San Diego Zoo, check out its Ape Cam.

Did you know? One of the facts you might learn at the Great Ape Enclosure is how cellular phone manufacturing has contributed to the widespread demise of gorillas in Central Africa.

San Diego Zoo tickets: You can buy tickets on the zoo website. One-day tickets cost $34 for adults 12 and older, and $24 for children 3-11. You can find better value from multi-day tickets.
