Talk about keeping something under wraps.
The much-anticipated Andaz West Hollywood hotel, once known as the Riot Hyatt for the bad-boy pranks of its rock-star guests, will put on display, beginning Wednesday (Nov. 26), a 190-by-86-foot piece of art that will cover the façade of the 14-story, 257-room hotel.
The artwork on vinyl, pictured above, (the predicted rain shouldn’t be an issue) by Brian Cairns asks the musical question, “What is Your Andaz?”
The fundamental answer: Andaz is the newest flavor from Hyatt, and its website says it seeks to offer “personal attention to detail and a dedication towards individual preferences.”
The WeHo Andaz, expected to open just after the first of the year, will be the first one in the U.S. Two more are expected in New York and one in Austin, Texas. They will join London’s Andaz Liverpool.
Rooms on the north side of the building at 8401 Sunset Blvd. will be 277 square feet and on the south side, 341 square feet; rates will average $425 but will range from $295 to $695.
The fate of the art when the hotel’s transformation is complete is not yet known.
