American Airlines cutting flights & hubs in OAK and SBP; last-minute overnight Catalina cruise

Airline news | American Airlines will be cutting flights and closing hubs at several destinations including two in California — Oakland (OAK) and San Luis Obispo (SBP) through American Eagle.

Cruise news | Cruise ships are about to get safer. Read: Sen. John Kerry introduces cruise ship safety bill.

Frequent flier | Get miles for doing some good. American Airlines AAdvantage members can get a one-time award of 250 bonus AAdvantage miles for a $50 donation, or 500 bonus miles for a $100 donation to AA’s disaster relief efforts. Note: If you want your donation to go to helping the central U.S. floods and tornadoes, look for the section on the Red Cross central U.S. floods and tornadoes relief effort.
