The 'Amazing Race 13' - In India, romance is in the air

\

The sixth lap of “The Amazing Race” last night found Dallas of mother/son Toni and Dallas team admitting that he had a thing for cheerleader Starr of the brother/sister team Nick and Starr. And Starr, who came in first the previous week with her older sibling, also proclaimed that she had a connection with Dallas.

But love certainly wasn’t in the air with newly dating couple Terence and Sarah and the estranged Ken and Tina.  They bickered, whined and even cried during the episode that found the six remaining teams leaving Siem Reap, Cambodia, for Delhi, India.

Once in Delhi, the teams had to take a taxi to Moonlight Motors for their Road Block. One team member had to take a traditional Indian taxi, tape newspapers inside and out on the yellow portions of the taxi and then spray paint green the parts of the taxi that weren’t taped.

The lazy, whiny Terence bullied Sarah because she was too slow for him at the Road Block. The more he bullied her the more frazzled she became. Ken and Tina’s taxi got lost on the way and were the last to arrive to the painting. Every step of the way, Tina barked orders at her husband. “Tina is so strong,” said Ken, which was something of an understatement. “I feel kind of helpless at times …”

After completing the task, the teams took a taxi to the Ambassador Hotel where a doorman  was waiting for them in the gardens to hand them their next clue — the Detour.  The contestants had to choose between “Launder Money” and “Launder Clothes.”

The majority of the teams chose “Launder Clothes” in which they had to go to a nearby traditional Indian laundry and iron 20 pieces of clothes using the ultra-hot charcoal-heated iron.  Nick and Starr were wise enough to dig through their luggage to find gloves and they finished first. But the Superbad frat boys Andrew and Dan, who admitted they had never ironed anything in their lives, lagged woefully behind.

Terence and Sarah and Ken and Tina chose “Launder Money” in which they had to go to a  wedding ceremony and make a traditional wedding necklace with money and then give it to a bride and groom.

This week’s Pit Stop was the Baha’i House, the national headquarters of the Bahai faith. Nick and Starr came in first for the second week in a row and their third time during the competition and won a pair of electric cars. Ken and Tina were the last to arrive but being the first of three non-elimination rounds, they lived on to race and bicker and cry at least one more week.  Their punishment for coming in last was that they will encounter a Speed Bump next week that only they must perform before joining the rest of the teams. No wonder Ken was seen crying during his final interview last night.
