Airfare Watchdog adds city-to-city alerts

Airfare Watchdog logoIt’s OK if you’re not a spontaneous-travel bargain hunter who can leave on a Tuesday and jet off to the cheapest international destination on a list of best airfare deals. Really, I won’t hold it against you. Neither will Airfare Watchdog. In fact, they’ve just added a city-to-city airfare alert so you can have the best price they’ve found between the cities you travel to most.

I signed up for Los Angeles (LAX) to New York (LGA), Los Angeles (LAX) to London (LHR) and Los Angeles (LAX) to Cancun, Mexico (CUN).

Where to sign up: The city-to-city alert is a little bit hidden right now, but they just soft-launched it today. Go to the home page and find “Sign up for free fare alerts.” Enter your e-mail and click on “sign up” — it’s totally free and if you’ve signed up before, like I have, you won’t get duplicate e-mails, this just takes you to a new page. Now you are on a page where you can update your preferences. Scroll down to “City to City Fare Alerts” — it only shows one, but you will have the option to add more alerts as soon as you update the page after your first request.

Where is the cheapest destination for this weekend from Los Angeles? Use the “See fares from your city” tool to find out how much it costs to fly to a myriad of destinations, both domestic and international. If you plug in Los Angeles, you are returned results from Burbank (BUR), Los Angeles (LAX), Long Beach (LGB), Ontario (ONT) and Palmdale (PMD).

Note: You can also get fare alerts straight to your inbox from Farecast, Kayak and Orbitz.

Do you have a favorite travel airfare alert system?
