Air Jamaica canceled its flights in and out of Kingston, Jamaica, today because of the threat of Tropical Storm Gustav, according to a press release from the airline.
Just five flights from Montego Bay to Orlando, Florida; New York; Atlanta; Philadelphia; and Baltimore are scheduled to leave today, the release said.
The airline will allow ticket holders heading to or from Jamaica today through Monday to change their itineraries without any penalties. (Note: You may still owe fare differences.)
The storm, which is gaining strength and approaching hurricane-force winds, is headed toward Jamaica and expected to make “a near-direct hit” on Grand Cayman, the Associated Press reports. Flooding and mudslides killed 23 in Haiti and the Dominican Republic.
Air Jamaica ticket holders who choose not to go to Jamaica will get credit for future travel (valid for one year from the issue date) for the full value of the ticket without penalty, the release said.
For information, call (800) 523-5585 or visit the airline’s website.
