Hey seniors, go on a 7-day Alaskan cruise with Royal Caribbean and brag to your younger friends that you got a better deal. Sail on the Serenade of the Seas (2003) from Vancouver, through the Inside Passage, with port stops in Icy Straight Point, Hubbard Glacier, Skagway and Juneau.
Deals: Inside rooms start at $699, but the bargains get better for seniors once you upgrade. The cheapest oceanview room is $1,269 $819, and $2,049 $1,049 for the cheapest balcony, if you can prove you’re over age 55.
Have you sailed with Royal Caribbean? Let us know if you enjoyed their service.
Why Go: To play basketball on a ship. Or, to see the natural wonders of Alaska, from a different perspective.
Why Not: You aren’t comfortable bragging about your ‘elders’ discount.

It looks like a nice cruise. One can think out of the box or out of the cruise ship offerring and go a little differently.
The Alaska Marine Highway departs Bellingham once a week and perhaps twice a week in the summer for Alaska.
It is the same route and much less expensive. You can do research by googleing Alaska Ferrys . Sunset magazine usually has a fairly good artcile every few years.
Same route. Same scenery. Less bells and whistles but better fare would be my analysys.
