4-day Mexico cruise for $154, and other Carnival deals

Thinking about cruising this fall or winter? If you want to get your feet wet with a short excursion to Baja, now’s a good time to secure an advanced-bookers’ discount. Some of Carnival’s “Early Saver” rates for its three- to  five-day Mexico excursions from Long Beach and San Diego are incredible deals.

Deals: Various itineraries are available, some midweek and others weekend, some from Long Beach on the Carnival Paradise and others from San Diego on the Carnival Elation. The starting rates listed below are for the cheapest of the bunch, the interiors, though if your tastes run fancier, or at least less claustrophobia-inducing, rest assured that discounts are offered across all types of staterooms. Prices are pre-tax, per person and based on double occupancy.

From Long Beach:

> Three-day cruises departing on Fridays hit Ensenada. Early Saver rates begin at $229 per person on the Dec. 4 and Dec. 11 sailings. October rates start around $269.

> Four-day cruises departing Mondays stop into Catalina Island and Ensenada. Early-bird prices for this one start at $154 per person, available for Nov. 30 and Dec. 7 departures. Rates for early October trips begin at $219.

From San Diego:

> Three-day round-trip cruises departing Fridays call at Ensenada, for rates starting at $169 on Dec. 4 and 11. Save even more with a sailing departing Monday, Oct. 26, which can be had for as low as $139.

> Four-day cruises departing Monday stop into Ensenada and Catalina. The lowest rate of $169 is available for the Dec. 14 trip.

> Four-day cruises departing Thursdays head to Cabo San Lucas, with the Oct. 29 departure being offered for $289.

> Five-day cruises departing Saturdays include two whole days in Cabo San Lucas. Rates start at $324, available for the Sept. 26 sailing.

> Five-day cruises departing Mondays feature Cabo San Lucas and Ensenada, with a price tag of $299 for the departure on Sept. 21.
