2008 preview: SeaWorld’s Aquatica water park

SeaWorld's AquaticaSecond in a series: 2008 amusement and theme park preview

Take an ordinary water park, add an average marine park, mix in a South Seas theme and what do you get? SeaWorld’s Aquatica, the most highly anticipated theme park hybrid of 2008.

Only one question remains: Can the reality match the hype?

The $50-million Orlando, Florida, park’s marquee attraction is a see-through waterslide tube that passes through a dolphin lagoon.

SeaWorld's AquaticaA pair of waterways — a lazy river through a tropical fish grotto and a rapids river with gushing geysers — should also draw big crowds during the hot and sticky summer months.

And a pair of dueling side-by-side pools will be capable of creating nine wave patterns.

The 60-acre park will boast an impressive 36 water slides, including:
* A triple-drop raft slide
* A pair of cannon bowls
* A six-story family raft slide
* A racing slide fed by eight tubes

And for the waterlogged parents: 80,000 square feet of sandy beaches with private cabanas and waterside waiter service.

You can find all the blog entries in the 2008 Preview Series on the theme park page.

Would you travel to Orlando just to visit Aquatica?
