Planning a visit to Karlsruhe, Germany's ZKM Media Museum

THE BEST WAY

The closest big airport to Karlsruhe is Stuttgart, about 45 miles away. Public transportation or rental cars are available. From LAX, connection service (change of planes) to Stuttgart is offered on Lufthansa, Delta, Air France, KLM and Swiss Air. Round-trip restricted fares begin at $638.

ABOUT THE MUSEUMS

The ZKM, (Zentrum für Kunst und Medientechnologie) 76135 19 Lorenzstrasse, Karlsruhe; 011-49-721-8100-1200, www.zkm.de.

Modern Art Museum (closed until May 10) 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesdays through Fridays, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.

Media Museum Same hours as above.

State Gallery, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays.

Tickets for each museum cost $6.70 for adults, $2.65 for children 7 to 17. Admission is free every day after 2 p.m. and all day Fridays.

Combination tickets for all museums cost $11 for adults, $4 for children.

Where am I?

This is a city known for great old architecture. And it's a desert spot and has a long-standing tradition of hospitality.
