Washington state's TomatoFare festival hails the tomato

Using 70 to 100 organic varieties of heirloom tomatoes, eight Washington state chefs will present their own creations at the event, where there will be live music, a farmers market, tomato tastings, samples of the chefs' recipes and wine tastings.

When, where: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 18 on the grounds of Cave B Estate Winery, 348 Silica Road N.W., Quincy, Wash.

Admission: $30, $40 at the door.
