An evening ceilidh (Celtic social event) brings music of the British Isles, with harpists, singers, dancers, bagpipers and drummers. The Scottish celebration also has a bonny-knees contest (male knees, female judges), bagpiping and drumming competitions. Nationally ranked amateurs compete in athletic contests including the caber toss, which involves flipping a heavy pole, and the sheaf toss, where a 16-pound bag is heaved over a bar. Last year's winner topped 27 feet.

When, where: Aug. 17 and 18 at the Teton County Fair Grounds, 305 W. Snow King Ave.

Admission: $5 per person per day.

Info: (307) 733-2662, www.wyohighlanders.net.
