• Lost Pond: An easy hike on the Appalachian Trail to

Lost Pond, which includes views across to the east face of Mount

Washington, the highest mountain in the Northeast.

• Elephant Head: A short, easy climb to a ledge

overlooking a view of Crawford Notch and AMC's Highland Center.

• Zealand Falls: A moderate hike past beaver ponds and

meadows to the scenic falls and the AMC's Zealand Falls Hut.

• Square Ledge: A rugged but easy, short trip for views

overlooking Pinkham Notch to Mount Washington's Tuckerman and

Huntington ravines.

• Mount Willard: An easy-to-moderate hike up Mount

Willard, a low peak overlooking Crawford Notch with fine views of

the White Mountains.

• Thoreau Falls: A moderate, longer alternative to

visiting Zealand Falls Hut, continuing past the hut into Zealand

Notch, arriving at a view ledge atop Thoreau Falls.

• Franconia Ridge: A strenuous but spectacular loop

hike.
