What do 50,000 cream puffs, Joan Jett and a shark aquarium have in common?
They're all part of The Big E, the largest fair in New England, scheduled to take place Sept. 14-30, 2007 in West Springfield, Mass.
The event offers live musical performances, rides, educational displays, a free circus, crafts, and a horse show. New attractions this year include a creative arts show and a 7,000-gallon shark aquarium.
Joan Jett is scheduled to perform Sept. 14, followed by Brooke Hogan, Sept. 22, and Taylor Hicks, Sept. 29. Other entertainers include Daughtry, Sept. 15, and country stars Trace Adkins, Sept. 16, and Montgomery Gentry, Sept. 28.
Among the other special events are Cultura 2007, a celebration of Hispanic heritage, Sept. 16; appearances by celebrity PBS television chefs Daisy Martinez, Sept. 16, and Lidia Bastianich, Sept. 27; and daily Mardi Gras parades.
Organizers expect to serve more than 50,000 cream puffs, a specialty of the fair.
Adults pay $12 weekdays and $15 weekends; children ages 6-12 are $8 weekdays and $10 weekends. For advance discount tickets or more information, visit www.thebige.com.
