Norwalk, Connecticut celebrates Oyster Festival

It's a fest on the half-shell in Norwalk, with food and arts and crafts booths, carnival rides for the kids and "YMCA" to boot. Preservation of the environment is emphasized with educational displays, after which visitors can boogie to Jay & the Americans and the Village People.

When, where: Sept. 7 to 9 at Veterans Park, on Seaview Avenue in Norwalk.

Admission: $12, $3 for children 5 to 12, younger than 5 free.
