Santa Cruz celebrates Welcome Back Monarchs Day

Monarch butterflies are the guests of honor at this annual party at their Santa Cruz winter home. There will be arts and crafts, games for the kids, ice cream with an orange hue, info on how to create a butterfly garden and more. From Oct. 13, 2007 through January 2008, guided tours of the pathway into Monarch Grove can be taken with a park interpreter at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Or visitors can take a self-guided tour with a map that outlines points of interest.

When, where: Oct. 14 at Natural Bridges State Beach, 2531 W. Cliff Drive.

Cost: Tours and Monarchs Day are free.
