Croatia: Illyrian Resort in Milna a Dalmatian getaway

"We would like to recommend the Illyrian Resort in Milna, a wonderful and undiscovered 17th century fishing village on Brac island, Croatia, on the Dalmatian coast. Wanting to experience my ancestors' homeland, my husband and I began our two-week vacation with an eight-day small group tour. Our intention was to tour the Dalmatian coast with an organized group and then head out on our own to Milna, on Brac island, the home of my ancestors. The town appears frozen in time, with well-preserved architecture. Beautiful paths connect the hillside homes. The resort is located within a short stroll to the town center, where there is a grocery market, cafe, bars, restaurants and an open-air produce market. Ferries and catamarans dock here and are available for transportation back to the mainland, or to neighboring islands."

Illyrian Resort, 21405 Milna, Brac, Croatia; 011-385-21-636-566; www.illyrian-resort.hr. Doubles from $74 (based on minimum stay of seven days).

Where am I?

This is a city known for great old architecture. And it's a desert spot and has a long-standing tradition of hospitality.
