Fans of St. Nick, saddles and spurs can combine their interests during a self-guided tour of six top equestrian sites in the Foothills region of the Carolinas. For horse lovers, it's the equivalent of a fancy-home tour as visitors get a peek into high-priced barns that house high-priced show horses. The tour is put on by the Foothills Equestrian Nature Center, which conducts programs for children, among other activities.

When, where: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 24 at various locations. Visitors should meet at the nature center to pick up a map, 3381 Hunting Country Road, Tryon, N.C.

Cost: $10, $5 ages 5 to 15, 4 and younger free.

Info: (828) 859-9021, www.fence.org.

Where am I?
