If, like the Army, you travel on your stomach, take a look at www.chowhound.com. The website caters to the gourmand in each of us, offering recipes and videos on technique. It even dishes dirt on Rachael Ray. But its real value for a traveler is its message boards.

What's hot: You'll get user tips on dining out in many big cities in the U.S., France, Britain and even places farther afield such as India and Cambodia. If you register (it's free), you can seek info on your destination.

What's not: Take all recommendations with a pinch of salt.
