Chowder, fireworks and more at Boston Harborfest

Boston Harborfest: About 200 events are held over seven days, including the Party on the Plaza, with food samples and live music; Chowderfest, where thousands of guests sample chowder and vote for the best; Children's Day; Revolutionary reenactments; tall-ship sailing. Fireworks on the Esplanade cap things off.

When, where: June 28 through July 4 in Boston's downtown and waterfront districts, with most events at City Hall Plaza, near the intersection of Cambridge and State streets.

Admission: Most events are free. Chowderfest is $10 for adults and $7 for kids younger than 12.
