Awa sipping spots in Honolulu

Relax – it's awa. Stop and grab a bowl.

A decade ago, you couldn't find awa in Honolulu, but now there are two places to try the venerated drink.

Diamond Head Cove Health Bar, 3045 Monsarrat Ave.; (808) 732-8744. Open 10 a.m. to midnight with live music Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays; all other days, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Kapahulu Kafe, 766 Kapahulu Ave., (808) 732-7486, . Open 6 p.m. to midnight Tuesdays through Sundays. Kapahulu Kafe has thatch on the walls and a fantastic painting of the Hawaiian creation story on the ceiling. The awa here is smooth and fresh, there's live music and the crowd is welcoming.

Where am I?

Should we take offense, order a drink, or what? That depends, of course, on where you think these words turned up.
