WEB BUZZ
On the heels of partnering with professional networking group LinkedIn (which has more than 30 million members worldwide), TripIt.com has solidified itself as a leading trip management tool for business and leisure travelers.
What's hot: Now you can leave the sticky notes at home. TripIt puts an end to the annoying searching for your flight, hotel, train, cruise and car rental confirmation numbers by building a master itinerary for you that contains all your travel info, maps, weather, restaurants and more. You can access it from e-mail, a personal calendar or a mobile device. When I first encountered TripIt last year I thought it was cool, but I didn't think I traveled enough to make it worth the time it takes to log info. Several quick weekend jaunts and one car-rental problem later, and I'm sold. Now I simply e-mail my confirmations to plans@tripit.com">plans@tripit.com and I become a model of efficiency on those late-evening hotel check-ins that always seem to require a confirmation number. TripIt can sync my plans to the calendar feature on my computer or on my iPhone, and I can share my trip plans with a non-TripIt user (using a temporary account).
What's not: The service is free, but time is, after all, money. There are lots of cool features worth using on TripIt, including the mobile phone applications, but it takes a little bit of reading and playing around to figure it all out. Use the TripIt Help page for quick-start guides.
