JohnnyJet.com, a terrific resource for travel info, turned me on to WakerUpper.com, which eliminates the need to schedule a wake-up call at a hotel, remind you of a meeting or tell you to pick up some milk.

What's hot: It's easy to use, and it's free. Log on to the website, put in your phone, e-mail address and type a short message to yourself. You can schedule a reminder for any phone, land line or cell. You'll get a phone call and voice message of your text reminder.

What's not: Under some plans, you may get charged for the incoming call. It's in beta, so it's still being tested. Available only in the U.S. and Canada.

Where am I?

The French built this place before the Americans took it over. There are a couple of big lakes next door.
