In September 2008, Diane and Michael Llach of Porter Ranch took their first empty-nest vacation -- a road trip to Yellowstone, a favorite destination from Diane's childhood. After a wonderful, off-season visit of five days, they started for home early in the morning via the west entrance and noticed this small group of elk along the Madison River. "To get the shot, I had to take a location roughly between the bull and his harem," Michael said. He used a Canon PowerShot A620 on auto setting.
