Lori Graham, her husband, Chuck, and three children rented a camper van and covered almost 3,000 miles on a two-week adventure across the North Island of New Zealand. The Carpinteria family was equipped with five surfboards and twice as many duffel bags, and relied mostly on local recommendations. On a trip to Kerikeri, the Grahams discovered a hiking trail to Rainbow Falls and tramped one hour to reach the falls and blue-green pool. "As soon as I took this photo, my daughter, Hannah (16), climbed behind it over mossy, fern-covered rocks," Lori says. She used a Canon EOS-1N with a Tamron 200 to 400mm lens.
