Your Scene: Celebrating her birthday with colorful Mali dancers

Jackie Bell of Anaheim likes to travel off the beaten path, so she went far afield, to Burkina Faso and Timbuktu, Mali, for her 70th birthday. On a side trip to Mali's Dogon country, she was treated to a dance by villagers. "The masks are incredible," she said. "They were brilliantly colored." Dancers "came streaming out of the mountains. That's why I am a travel junkie; you see some things that just transport you." Her camera is a Nikon Coolpix L11.
