Your Scene: A Paris sunset captured

From The Los Angeles Times
02:51 PM PDT, March 13, 2009

Here's a scene that will bring joy to everyone who still shoots on traditional film. Gerald Shonkwiler of San Diego caught this intersection of the Eiffel Tower and the setting sun during an autumn trip to Paris. "We were walking across the Pont Neuf bridge, and my wife [Melanie] noticed that the sun would probably be passing through the Eiffel Tower," Shonkwiler recalls. "I waited for about half an hour." Your Scene usually requires that the shots be taken in the last couple of years. But this submission was so stunning, we broke our own rules. The 1996 photo was taken with a Nikon F100 using Fuji Provia 100 film.
