Get a passport; you won't regret it
In a Sept. 30 article, "Beat the Crowd: File for a Passport Now," writer Jane Engle concludes with this travel tip on figuring out current passport rules: "Just hire an attorney." Perhaps I could offer more useful advice to your readers: Just get a passport.
Rules on what's needed to cross land borders may change in the coming months, the numbers of passport applicants may change with the season, but one thing will remain constant: An American citizen with a passport will always have the right document for travel in and out of the United States.

A ranch for a certain season
Several years ago, we went to Rankin Ranch in the off-season. We were the only ones there. We had reserved five nights. We stayed for one night.
Barbecue? Nope! Hayride? Nope! Great ranch-type meals? Nope! We were essentially on our own.
Our advice: If you do decide to go to Rankin Ranch, don't go in the off-season.
