The hotel: The Portofino recently underwent an $11-million renovation and is one of a handful of Los Angeles-area hotels that offer oceanfront views. Guests can view the sea from the oceanfront swimming pool and whirlpool, or ride along the beach on one of the hotel's complimentary bicycles.
