Union Square's Westin St. Francis hotel, known for its elaborate holiday décor, offers a bargain.

Get a last-minute dose of Christmas spirit at San Francisco's Westin St. Francis, where rates start at $129 a night.

The deal: The venerable Union Square hotel is offering the special rate through Jan. 4. (Dec. 31 is not included.) Visitors may also wish to book a holiday tea, available from 2 to 4 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The tea, $39 a person, includes tea sandwiches, scones and sweets.

The hotel: The Westin St. Francis is known for its elaborate holiday décor, including an 18-foot tree surrounded by oversized children's toys and dolls, a large sugar castle and sleighloads of decorations. The hotel is in the heart of the city, close to shopping, the theater district and Chinatown, and is within walking distance of museums.
