Taste of Yountville
Mustard lovers and others can graze at this Napa Valley event, part of the annual Mustard Festival, which ends March 29. Tastings are provided by 15 area restaurants, 20 local wineries and a variety of mustard and olive-oil producers. Plus: arts and crafts, live entertainment and a barbecue.
When, where: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 22 along Washington Street, including Van de Leur Park (at Washington and Webber streets) and V Marketplace (6525 Washington St.).
Cost: Admission free; tasting tickets $1 each.

Olympic torch relay
San Francisco is the only North American burg on the 22-city international route of the Olympic torch. The torch will be lighted in Olympia, Greece, on March 26 and will make its San Francisco appearance April 8. It wends its way to mainland China before the start of the 2008 Olympics in Beijing on Aug. 8. Visitors can watch the S.F. portion of the relay for free. The torch will travel 85,127 miles in 130 days.
When, where: April 8 along a route that will be announced about a week before the event. Keep an eye out at the website below.

Telus World Ski & Snowboard Festival
Whistler-Blackcomb holds an annual sports fest that's as much about art and music as it is about sports. The event includes what's billed as the biggest free outdoor concert series in North America, with 10 days of tunes featuring such bands as the John Butler Trio, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Trews and Wintersleep. The ProPhotographer Showdown pits the world's top photographers of action sports (particularly of the snowboarding/skateboarding /mountaineering variety). Fashion Exposed is a high-energy runway show. And competitors in the 72 Hour Filmmaker Showdown gather at Whistler to shoot, edit and produce a five-minute film in just three days. Then there are the sports: the snowboarding Superpipe contest; the Orage Masters, with top skiers competing in costume; and Big Air, with top international skiers and riders competing to the sound of thumping music.
When, where: April 11 to 20 at locations at Whistler-Blackcomb ski resort, 4545 Blackcomb Way, Whistler.
Cost: Many activities free; ticketed events range from $10 to $20.

FLORIDA
14th annual Robert Frost Poetry Festival
Key West Heritage House presents the annual salute to Frost. Workshops on topics including haiku, bookbinding and how to read your poetry to an audience will take place at the Robert Frost Orchid Garden, Truman's Little White House lawn and the fantail of the USS Mohawk on the waterfront, overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. Nighttime events include And the Beat Goes On, poetry readings to jazz music; Smokin' Poetry, with cigars, wine and open-mike readings; and the Poetry Slam.
When, where: April 9 to 13 at the orchid garden in the back of Heritage House Museum, 410 Caroline St.; Little White House, 111 Front St.; and various other Key West venues.
