Art of Food & Wine

When, where: Nov. 6 to 9, throughout Palm Desert.

Highlights: Local chefs and bartenders show off their talent amid live music (including performances by the B-52s), art, fashion and a culinary-themed golf tournament.

Cost: Tickets start at $40.50 per person.

MAMMOTH LAKES

Mammoth Film Festival

When, where: Nov. 13 to 23, throughout Mammoth Lakes.

Highlights: More than 60 feature and short films in a variety of genres make their debut or are screened; between show times, festival-goers can attend panel discussions, live music and social events.

Cost: $25 for an all-access pass.

EL CAJON

Mother Goose Parade

When, where: Nov. 23, from Magnolia Avenue and Main Street to Madison Avenue.

Highlights: The 62nd annual parade is San Diego County's largest single-day event; it features floats, marching bands and celebrity appearances by actors (including Tori Spelling), pro athletes, musicians -- and Santa Claus.

Cost: $25 each for grandstand seats.

EUREKA

Craftsman's Days

When, where:

Nov. 29, Blue Ox Millworks Historic Park.

Highlights: Lessons and demos about blacksmithing, woodworking, spinning, ceramics and other Victorian-era crafts. Food and live music too.

Cost: $7.50 for adults; $3.50 for children 6 to 12; free for ages 5 and younger. (Profits go to the town's youth radio station.)
