Old Time Movies series

When, where: Aug. 14 at Big Bear Discovery Center, 40971 Northshore Drive.

Highlights: Watch old favorites under the pines; this time, a showing of two episodes from the "Daniel Boone" TV series; storytelling adds a Big Bear twist.

BODEGA, CALIF.

Bodega Seafood, Art & Wine Festival

When, where: Aug. 23 and 24 at Watts Ranch, 16855 Bodega Highway.

Highlights: Seafood, including barbecued oysters, crab cakes, bacon-wrapped albacore; metalwork, glass, woodwork and other art on display; wine and microbrew tastings; live music and comedy.

Cost: $12, $8 ages 12 to 16, 11 and younger free; wine/beer tastings are $15 for six tastes and a commemorative glass; each additional taste $2.

Suds on the Green

Open Studio Tour

Highlights: Santa Barbara Studio Artists sponsors the annual tour; 40 artists; oils, watercolors, stone sculptures, mixed-media assemblages and more.

Ventura Hillsides Music Festival
